The73participantsinthestudyweremotioncaptureddancingtoeightdifferentgenres.Theonlyinstructiontheyreceivedwastolistentothemusicandmoveanywaytheyfeltnatural.Theresearchersthenanalyzedtheirmovementsusingmachinelearning,tryingtodistinguishbetweenthemusicalgenres.Unfortunately,theircomputeralgorithm(算法)wasabletoidentifythecorrectgenrelessthan30%ofthetime.Theywereshockedtodiscover,however,thatthecomputercouldcorrectlyidentifywhichofthe73individualswasdancing94%ofthetime.Lefttochance(thatis,ifthecomputerhadsimplyguessedwithoutanyinformationtogoon),theexpectedaccuracywouldbelessthan2%.
