Atfirst,Reinigerwantedtobeanactress,butherskillatmakingsilhouettesdrewtheattentionoftheGermanfilmindustry.Before1927,filmsweresilent.Tohelptheaudienceunderstandthefilm,titlecardswithprintedtextappearedduringthefilmbetweenscenes.Reinigerhelpedcreatetitlecardsforfilms,usinghersilhouettes.In1918,shewasaskedtoprovidestop-motionanimation(定格动面),inwhichobjectsarephotographed(拍摄)inaseriesofslightlydifferentpositionsandthenreplayedathighspeedsothattheobjectsappeartomoveontheirown,forwoodenrats(老鼠)inthemovieThePiedPiperofHamelin.Itwasabreakthroughthatledtoherownfilms,firstshortfilmsandthen,in1926,TheAdventuresofPrinceAchmed,thefirstfull-lengthanimatedfilm.
AlthoughReinigeroncedescribedherselfas“aprimitive(原始的)cavemanartist”,herworkisnotsimple.Shecarefullycutbitsofcard,paper,andwire,creatingwonderfulshapes,andthenmadethemmoveanddancebyhand.Theblackshapeswerethenplacedoncolorfulbackgrounds.Shemademorethan60films,around40ofwhichsurvive,allcutbyherownhands.Mostwerebasedontimelessfairytales,likeCinderellaandSleepingBeauty.
Reinigerwastrulyapioneerbothinanimationandforwomeninfilm-making.Thoughherlastfilmcameoutin1980,herstyleisstillinfluentialandcanoftenbeseenintoday’sfilms.

Itturnedoutthatservingwineinsmallerglasseshadnomeasurableeffect.Butthelargeglassesincreasedwinesales10percent-evenaftercontrollingfordayoftheweek,temperature,holidaysandsoon.Thereason?
“Whenthewine,thesameamount,isbeingservedinalargerglass,peopleareprobablythinkingthey’vegotlessinthere.”Which,shesays,meanstheymightdrinkmore,believingtheyhaven’thittheirnightlylimit.Or,theymightjustfeellesssatisfiedwiththepour,andbuyanotherround.ThestudyappearsinthejournalBMCPublicHealth.
Marteausaysthat,iflaterstudiesconfirmthiseffect,publichealthofficialsmightconsiderdirectingacertainaverageglasssize.“Statingclearlythelargestsizeinwhichwinecanbesoldcouldbeameasuretoreducetheoverconsumption(过度消耗)ofalcoholthatseemstobeshownbytheglasssize.”Untilthathappens,thebarinthestudynowalwaysservesitswineinthelargerglasses.
