II.ImportingaCADmodelintoHM:
Inthistutorialweareimportingahmasciifile.
1.Clickon“CAD”underModel.

SelecttheoptionHMASCIIfromthemenuavailableusingthetoggleandclickon“import”

III.ModelSetup:
Theusercanusethetoolsavailablein“Createmodel”sectionifGeometrycleanupisnecessaryforanyCADmodel.
Theusermightswitchbetweenoptionstosetupthemoldflowdeck.
Themodelinthisexampledoesnotneedanygeometrycleanup.
Thegeometrywillhavetwocomponentswithdifferentthicknesses.
A.CreatingCollectorstostoretheelementdata:
1.Clickonthemacrobutton,“Midplane/Fusion”under“Attributes”section.Thiswilltaketheusertothe“collectors”panelwithoption“create”checkedandthe“MPI-2D”cardimageautomaticallyloadedasshown.
2.Enterthenamefore.g.“Dome”;
pickacolorandclick“create/edit”.Thiswillloadthecardimagewiththenecessaryattributesasshownbelow.
Anefforthasbeenmadetomakethingsintuitivetotheuser.Theusercanchoosefromtheoptionsavailablefor“ModelType”and“RegionType”.ByclickingonthecurrentoptionavailableunderthecorrespondingType,theusercanpickamongthedifferentoptionsavailableasshownbelow.

3.AfterchoosingtheModelTypeas“Cavity”andRegionTypeas“Moldcavity”,enterthethicknessofthecomponent.Herethedomewillbeassignedathicknessof8mm.
4.Click“return”.
Thesameprocessisrepeatedtocreateanothercollectorcalled“Lid”,withModelType“Cavity”andRegionType“Moldcavity”andathicknessof5mm.
B.Organizingthesurfacestoaidinonestepmeshing:
1.Goto“organize”panel.
2.Clickonthetoggleandselect“surfs”fromtheextendedentityselection
Toselectthesurface(s)toorganize,theusercan
(a)Withtheleftmouseclickpickthesurface(highlightedinwhiteabove)

1.Clickon“Feedsystem”undertheAttributessection.Thiswillputtheuserinthecollectorspanelwiththeoption“create”checkedand“MPI1d”cardimageloaded.
