impression在此处为可数名词,意为“印象”。

one’s(first)impressionof某人对……的(最初)印象
2)…thatshewasnervousandshy这是由that引导的表语从句。
ThePredicativeClause表语从句
作用:
对主语进行解释说明。
在复合句中作主句的表语.引导词有连词that(that不可省),whether;代词有who,what,which;副词when,where,how,why等;连词:
because,asif,asthough也可以用来连接。
如:
Theproblemisthatwedidn’tgetintouchwithhim.
ThisishowHenrysolvedtheproblem.
Hissuggestionisthatwe(should)finishtheworkatonce.
如果句子的主语是suggestion,advice.order等名词时,后面引导的表语从句用should+动词原形,should可省略.

再也没有听到他的消息,因此我们怀疑他是否死了。
(3)don’tfeelpletelystupid并不觉得自己是个大笨蛋
don’t(否定词)和pletely(表示“全部”概念的词)放在一起表示部分否定。
又如:
Allisnotgoldthatglitters.
=Notallthatglittersisgold.发光的并不都是金子。
Everybodywouldn’tlikeit.
=Noteverybodywouldlikeit.并不是每个人都会喜欢它。
Hedoesn’tknoweverythingaboutit.
=Heknowsnoteverythingaboutit.对此他并不完全了解情况。
3)avoidvt.--toprevent(sth)happening,ortostoponeselffromdoingsth防止(发生某事),避免(做某事)avoidsth./doingsth.
