MsKercher,21,wasfounddeadinaPerugiaflatshesharedwithMsKnox.
AmericanMsKnoxandherItalianex-boyfriendwerefoundguiltyin2009,thenfreedin2011aftertheconvictionswereoverturned.Theywerereinstatedbyanothercourtlastyear.
'Fullofjoy'
ThecouplehadalwaysmaintainedtheirinnocenceandthedecisionbytheCourtofCassationputsanendtotheirlonglegalbattle.
Thereasoningbehindthedecisionwillbemadepublicin90days.
MsKnox,27,saidshewas"fullofjoy"afterhearingtheverdict.
"I'mstillabsorbingthepresentmoment,"shesaid,speakingoutsidehermother'shouseinSeattle,expressingthanks"forthejusticeI'vereceivedandforthesupportI'vehadfromeveryone".
"Meredithwasmyfriend,"sheadded,"shedeservedsomuchinthislife."

Ithasbeenaseven-yeartrial,andlateonFridaynight,afterninehoursofdiscussion,fiveappealcourtjudgesinRome'sSupremeCourtsteppedouttodeliveradefinitiveacquittalofAmandaKnoxandRaffaeleSollecito,overthemurderofMeredithKercher.
Noreasonwasgiven.Abriefstatementwasreadbythepresidingjudge-justificationwillbedelivered,inwriting,within90days,inaccordancewithItalianlaw.
Neitherdefendantwasincourttoheartheacquittalinperson,buttherewerecheersfrombothdefenceteams,whospokeoftheirsurprise-anacquittalbeingararityinItalianSupremeCourthearings.
LawyerCarloDellaVedovabrokethenewstoMsKnoxbyphone,whocriedwithhappiness,sayingshenowwantsto"recoverfromthisnightmare".
TheKercherfamilyhavenotbeenincourtforthishearing,butprosecutionlawyerFrancescoMarescaspokeoftheirconcernthattheywon'teverlearnthetruthaboutwhathappenedtoMereditheightyearsago.
ProfGregHampikian,afriendoftheKnoxfamilywhoalsoworkedontheDNAevidenceforMsKnox'sdefence,toldBBCRadio5livethat"everybodyisveryhappytoseethisfinished,sotheycangetonwiththeirlives".
"She'stryingtostartherlifeasayoungwoman,sohopefullythiswillbeareallywonderfulchangeandanewdayforthemandforRaffaeleandhisfolks,"hesaid.
"IhopetheKercherscanfindpeaceaswell.It'sjustbeenanupanddownthingforeveryoneforsolong."
MeredithKercher,21,wasfounddeadintheflatthatshesharedwithMsKnox
ThelawyerforMsKercher'sfamily,FrancescoMaresca,hasexpressedhisdisappointmentwiththeverdict.
"Ithinkthatit'sadefeatfortheItalianjusticesystem,"hetoldtheAssociatedPressnewsagency.
MsKercher'smotherhasbeenquotedbythePressAssociationassayingthatsheis"surprisedandveryshocked"bytheacquittals.
MsKercher,fromCoulsdoninsouthLondon,wasonaone-yearstudentexchangeinPerugiawhenshewasstabbedtodeathintheflatshesharedwithMsKnox.
MrSollecitowasinitiallyarrestedalongwithMsKnoxdaysafterthekilling
TheLeedsUniversitystudent'sbodywasfoundunderaduvetinherbedroom,whichhadbeenlockedfromtheinside.
Daysafterthekilling,MsKnoxandherboyfriendatthetime,RaffaeleSollecito,31,werearrested.
Theywereconvictedofmurderin2009byacourtinPerugia.
Butin2011,ajuryclearedbothdefendantsofthecharge,afterdoubtswereraisedoverthehandlingofDNAevidence.
RudyGuedeisserving16yearsforhispartinthemurder
Aretrialwasorderedafterprosecutorsarguedthatimportantevidencehadbeendisregarded.In2014,theguiltyverdictwasreinstated.
Anotherman,RudyHermannGuede,borninIvoryCoast,wasalsoconvictedinaseparatetrialandisservinga16-yearsentenceforhisroleinthemurder.

Inatersephone-callonThursdaynight,PresidentBarackObamapausedonlybrieflytocongratulateMrNetanyahuonhisvictorybeforeinforminghimthathisadministrationwill“re-assess”itsoptionsregardingtheMiddleEastpeaceprocessinlightofremarkslastweekmadebytheprimeminister.MrNetanyahuhadseemedtoberetreatingfromapreviouscommitmenttothetwo-statesolutionwhenheabruptlymadeclearthataPalestinianstatewouldnotbefoundedduringhisterm.MrObamaalsotookhimtotaskforamessageherecordedonelectiondayinwhichMrNetanyahuexhortedright-wingvoterstorushtothepollsanddefendIsraelfrom“drovesofArabs”votingforleft-wingparties.

TheprimeministerhadanticipatedthisandonthedayafterhiselectionvictorywasalreadysittingdownforinterviewswithAmericanmedia,backpedalingawayfromhiselectionstatements.“Idon’twantaone-statesolution,”hetoldNBC.“Iwantasustainableandpeacefultwo-statesolution,butcircumstanceshavetochangeforthattohappen.”ButtheexplanationwasnotgoodenoughforanObamaadministrationwhichhaswarnedthatitmaynowpursueatwo-statesolutionthroughtheUnitedNations,withholdingitscustomaryvetoprotectionofIsrael.
MrNetanyahu’sadvisorsareconvincedtherealmotivationbehindthediplomaticonslaughtistheadministration’sattempttosuppressoppositiontotheIraniandeal.DoreGold,thepresidentoftheJerusalemCenterforPublicAffairsandamemberoftheprimeminister’sclosecircle,saidthe“timingreflectstheadministration’sprimaryconsiderationistheimpendingnuclearagreementwithIran.”Israeliministershaveinsistedinrecentweeksthatthecurrentroughperiodistemporary,andthatdespitethelackofchemistrybetweenthetwoleaders,theallianceisasstrongasever.Yetmanyseniorofficialssayotherwise.“EverythingfromarmsprocurementstojustgettingameetingwithyourcounterpartinDCisnowtakingtwiceaslongasusual,”saidoneexasperatedIsraeli.
