Thislessonisareadingpassage.ItplaysaveryimportantpartintheEnglishteachingofthisunitandinthewholeseniormiddleschoolEnglish,becauseweshouldlayparticularemphasisonthestudents’readingability.Itfocusesonthestudents'abilitiestogatherinformation;dealwithinformation;solveproblemsandtheabilitiestothinkandexpressinEnglish.Bystudyingthelesson,thestudentscanimprovetheirreadingability;learnmoreaboutabalanceddietandnutrition.Atthesametime,weshouldgetthestudentstounderstandsomedifficultsentencestocomprehendthepassagebetter.Thestudentsshoulddosomelistening,speaking,readingandwriting,too.Ofcourse,thestudentsshouldreceivesomemoraleducation.

Step4.Fastreading
Askthestudentstoreadthepassagequicklyandgetthemainideaandthestructureoftext.Guidethestudentstofindoutkeywordsandsentencesorpayattentiontothefirstsentencesofeachparagraphtogetthemainideaandthestructureofthetext.
Bydoingthis,Iwilltrainthestudentsforfastreadingskillstoimprovethestudents’readingabilityandletthestudentsunderstandthegeneralideaofeachparagraph.
Step5.Intensivereading
Thestudentsarerequiredtofocusonthewholetextcarefullyparagraphbyparagraphtolocateparticularinformationandfinishtheexercisesonthescreen.Theseexercisesaremainlysentencejudgments,choicesaboutthetext.Theyaredesignedfromtheeasiestonetothemostdifficultonefordifferentlevels'Ss.Thepurposeistotrainthestudentsfortheskillsofscanningandtoleadthestudentstofindouttheimportantfactsanddetailedinformation.I’llaskthestudentstofinishtheexercisesbycooperationandcompetitions.Theycanfirsthelpeachotherunder-standthetextandsmoothawaythedifficulties.ThenI'lldividetheSsinto4groups.Ifastudentcananswerthequestioncorrectly,thenhis/hergroupcangetonepoint.Andthegroupwhichgetsthemostpointsisthewinner.OnlythroughcooperationcantheSstastethejoyofsuccess.IftheSsknowtheiranswerisright,he'llbeconfidentandthey'llsurelybecomemoreenthusiasticinlearningEnglish.Thepurposeistoimprovethestudents’readingcomprehension.Andatthesametimethestudentscanbecomeawareofthehappinessofhelpingeachother.Thusthestudentsreceivesomemoraleducation.
