Earthquakescanalsobreakupgasandoilpipes.Thiscancausefirestobreakout,whichcandoasmuchdamageastheearthquakeitself.Anothereffectofearthquakesistsunamis.Thesearehugewavescreatedbyearthquakesbeneaththesea.Theycanbemanymetershighandcausegreatdamagetocoastaltownsandcities.China,Japan,RussiaandtheUSAhavethehighestoccurrence(发生)ofearthquakesintheworld.
