Introduction
TheJDWetherspoonplcwasfoundedbyTimMartinwhoopenedthefirstJDwetherspoonpubinthe1979.Itbasedthemodelforapubona1946essaybyGeorgeOrwellwhichreferredtoanimaginarypubcalled‘MoonUnderWater’.Inthe1992,theJDWetherspoonbecameaplcwhichtimeitconsistedofachainof44pubsandnowithasover600pubs.In2002,about10yearsafterflotation,itssharepricerosetomorethantentimesitsoriginalvalue.
