1.doublev.加倍
用作限定词的用法
double用作限定词时,意为“两倍”,是前位限定词,其用法与其他前位限定词(如倍数词、分数词、以及all,both,half等)的用法一样,不仅要放在所有形容词的前面,而且要放在中位限定词(如冠词、指示代词、物主代词等)和后位限定词(序数词、基数词等)之前。
如:
Hegotdoublethesum.他得到了那个金额的两倍。
Theywantatleastdoubletheirsalaries.他们想至少要把工资提高一倍。
有时可放在what从句之前。
Hisincomeisdoublewhatitwasfiveyearsago.他的收入是5年前的两倍。
用作形容词的用法
double用作形容词时,它有多个意思:
1)表示“两倍的”“加倍的”。
2)表示“双的”“成双的”“双层的”。
Youmustn'
tparkondoubleyellowlinesinEngland.在英国双黄线上不许停车。
Theroomhasdoubledoors.这房间有双层门。
3)表示“两人用的”“双人的”。
Weboughtadoublebed.我们买了一张双人床。
4)表示“(意义、标准等)双重的”。
Thewordhasadoublemeaning.这个词有双重意思。
Thisswitchhasadoublepurpose.这个开关有双重用途。
注意:
用作形容词的double与用作限定词时的double不仅意思不一样,而且词序也不一样:
按照现代英语语法,形容词总是放在限定词之后,所以用作形容词的double总是放在冠词、物主代词、指示代词等限定词之后。
比较:
Doyoulikethedoublebed.你喜欢这张双人床吗?
Wecannotpaydoubletheamount.我们不能付双倍的数目。
用作副词的用法
double用作副词时,有两个意思:
一是表示“两人一道地”,二是表示“双倍地”。
Thetwochildrensleepdouble.这两个小孩合睡一床。
Thepriceofmanythingsincreaseddouble.
许多东西的价格都上涨了一倍。
注意,用作副词的double主要用来修饰动词;
若用于修饰形容词,则通常用doubly这一副词形式。
You'
vegottobedoublycarefulwhenyou'
redrivinginfog.雾天开车你得加倍小心。
LosingboththeCupandtheLeagueisdoublydisappointing.在杯赛和联赛中双双失败真是令人失望透顶。
用作名词的用法
double用作名词,意思比较多,表示“两倍(的数或量)”“加倍之物”“酷似的人或物”“双打”“替身演员”“双从房间”等。

Twodoubleswereemployedforthisscene.拍这个场面雇用了两个替身。
用作动词时的用法
double用作动词时,可及物或不及物,意思是“(使)加倍”“对折”。
Themusicdoubledinvolume.音乐的声音加大了一倍。
Hetoldmenottodoublethepages.他叫我不要折书页

她帮助你自己算出答案,无论它们有多难。
2.nomatter常与疑问代词或疑问副词一起构成连词词组引导让步状语从句,意为“不管……,无论……”,在运用时应注意以下几点:
1)注意从句的时态
由nomatterwhat/who/where/when?
引导的从句往往用一般现在时或一般过去时。
如:
Nomatterwhoyouare,youmustobeytherules.无论你是谁,都应该遵守规则。
2)注意被修饰的名词、形容词以及副词的位置
nomatterwhat/whose/which修饰名词时,该名词必须紧跟其后;
nomatterhow修饰形容词或副词时,该形容词或副词也必须紧跟其后。
Nomatterhowhardheworks,hefinditdifficulttomakeendsmeet.无论他多么努力工作,却总是入不敷出。
3)注意“nomatter+疑问词”结构与“疑问词+ever”在用法上的区别
(1)“nomatter+疑问词”结构只能引导让步状语从句,这时可以和“疑问词+ever”互换。
Nomatterwherehemaybe(=Whereverhemaybe),hewillbehappy.他无论在什么地方都快乐。
(2)而“疑问词+ever”还可以引导名词性从句。
Givethisbooktowhoeverlikesit.谁喜欢这本书就给谁吧。
(这里不能用nomatterwho。
)
(3)whoever既可引导名词性从句,又有在从句中作主语、宾语、表语等;
whomever也可引导名词性从句,但只能在从句中作宾语。
Youmayinvitewhomeveryoulike.
(4)whatever表示“无论什么”,没有一定的范围限制;
whichever表示“无论哪一个、无论哪些”,其后可接一个名词。
3.caringadj.体贴人的
Iwillmisstheschooltreesandflowersandourkindandcaringteachers.我会怀念学校的树木花草以及我们善良,体贴的老师。
care的用法
1)用作名词,表示“注意”“小心”“关心”等,均为不可数名词。
Careisneededwhencrossingtheroad.过马路时要小心。
2)用作动词,注意以下用法:
(1)后接不定式,表示“愿意”“喜欢”“想要”,通常用于否定句、疑问句或条件句等。
Shedidnotcaretogowiththem.她不想和他们一道去。
(2)后接从句,表示“在乎”“在意”等,多用于否定句或疑问句,偶尔也用于肯定句。
Ididn'
tcarewhichofuswon.我不介意我们之间哪一位获胜。
3)用于careabout
(1)表示“在乎”“介意”。
Theonlythinghecaresaboutismoney.他只在乎钱。
(2)表示“对……感兴趣”。
Idon'
tcareaboutyouropinion.你的意见我不感兴趣。
后接动名词,表示想做某事。
(3)表示“关心”。
Eachofushadtocareabouttheother.我们人人都必须互相关心。
(4)表示“为……担心或担忧”。

4)用于carefor
(1)表示“喜欢”,通常用于否定句或疑问句。
tcareforstandinginqueues.我不喜欢排队。
有时还可接不定式的复合结构。

(2)表示“照看”“照顾”(可用于各种句型)。
Themothercaredforthesickchilddayandnight.母亲日夜照料着生病的孩子。
(3)表示“关心”“爱护”,这是一种比较正式的用法。
Wemustcareforeachotherandhelpeachother.我们要互相关心,互相帮助。
5)口语中说couldn'
tcareless,其意为“根本不在乎”。
Theycouldn'
tcareless.他们根本不在乎。
4.aheadadv.向前面
ahead的用法
1)是副词,不要把它误认为是名词:
正:
There'
sdangerahead.前面有危险。
误:
sdangerin[at]ahead.
2)主要用作状语,有时也用作后置定语或表语:
Theroadaheadwasfullofsheep.前面的路上全是羊。
3)用于aheadof,注意以下用法:
(1)指时间或空间的“在…之前”:
Heleftonedayaheadofme.他比我早走一天。
(2)表示“比…强(高)”(主要用作表语):
He'
saheadofmeinEnglish.他的英语比我强。
(3)用于aheadoftime,意为“提前”或“提早”:
Theworkwasdoneaheadoftime.工作提前完成了。
有时用于aheadofschedule:
Hefinishedhisjobaheadofschedule.他提前完成了工作。
4)用于goahead,注意以下用法:
(1)表示同意或允许,意为“说吧”、“做吧”:

(2)表示继续做某事,意为“继续…吧”:

分离的
(1)v.分隔,分离(常与from连用)

(2)adj.分开的,独立的,不同的
DavidandIhavebeenseparatedforsixmonthsandwehavebeensleepinginseparatebedrooms.我和大卫分居6个月了,我们一直睡在各自的卧室里。

setout意为“出发;
开始;
陈述”。
例句:

set的用法
1)setaboutsth./doingsth.着手做某事。
Wesetaboutourtaskatoncewithgreatenthusiasm.
我们以极大的热情立即着手这项任务。
2)setaside放在一边,搁置;
存蓄,留下。
Myparentssetasideabitofmoneyeverymonth.
我的父母每个月都存点钱。
3)setoff动身,出发;
燃放(鞭炮等),使……爆炸或发出响声。

我们吃完饭后,他建议立即动身。
4)setout动身,出发;
setouttodosth.打算或着手做某事。

5)setup竖起来,支起来;
建立,成立。
