Inaddition,anetworkofshiprepairyardsmaintainmerchant,navalandoffshoreships.Theshipyardsaresupportedbythemarineequipmentmanufacturers,paintmanufacturersandsuppliersofthehostofequipmentneededtoconstructandmaintainthecomplexmechanicalstructureswhichwerefertoasmerchantships.Theirturnoverin2004was$90billion.
