1Introduction
1.1GeneralInformation
Thison-sitetrainingmanualisashortintroductioninDCfilterequipmentanditscontrolandprotection.Everyitem,thatismentionedinthison-sitetrainingmanualisdescribedindetailintheoperationandmaintenancemanualslistedbelow.

1.2DCFilters–GeneralDescription
FortheTianGuangHVDCTransmissionProjectsixDCfilterbanksareprovided.Oneverysitethreefiltersarelocated.Twoofthethreefilterbanksarethestandardfilters,oneforeachpole.Thethirdfilterisredundant.Itcanberemoteswitchedtothedesiredpolebytheoperator.
AllthreeDCfilterbanksareequippedwithcomponentsofsameratings,soallthebankscanbeseenaselectricallysame.Eachfilterbankconsistsofadoubletunedpassivepartandaremovableactivepartthatistunedforsomeselectedharmonics.Tousethedcfilterwithorwithouttheactivepartithastobeconfiguredpriortoinsertion.
EachfilterbankisequippedwithitsownC+Pmodule.Thismoduleisalso,apartfromtheswitchingdevices,thehousingforthecomponentsoftheactivepart.

TheelectronicswitchishousedinhousedinaStandard8MFSIEMENScubicle.Itisrealisedwithamodified3phaseSITORthyristorassembly(Series6QG35)ofSIEMENSmanufacturing.Theoriginalsurgesuppressercircuitofeachthyristorpairhasbeenremovedandanewcircuit(commonforallthreethyristorpairs)hasbeenestablishedinthecubiclebelowtheSITORassembly.
Twothyristorpairsareusedfornormaloperation.Inadditionapassivethyristor-firingmoduleisinstalled.Thisisconnectedtothethirdthyristorpair.IncasemalfunctionofthecontroloftheSITORand/ortheIGBTconverteranovervoltageoftheDClinkoftheIGBTconvertercanoccur.AnovervoltagedetectioncircuitattheDClinktriggersthispassivethyristor-firingmodule.ItwillbypasstheIGBTconverterbyfiringthethirdthyristorpairbeforeanimpermissibleharmfulovervoltageisreached.
PleasenotethattheSITORassemblyhasbeenmodifiedandthereforenotallinformationwithintheoperationmanualisvalid.The(main)installedcomponentsarelistedbelow:

1.4.3ControlandProtectionCubicle
TheDCfilterprotectionandtheactivepartcontrolarehousedinadoublesizeStandard8MFSIEMENScubicle.TheC+Pisrealisedwiththemulti-microprocessorsystemSIMADYND.Thesystemsareinstalledinseparatesidesofthedoublesizecubicleandareelectricallyandmechanicallydecoupledenablingrepairsinafaultysystemwithoutdisturbingthehealthysystem.
