III.教材分析与教材重组
1.教材分析
本模块以“加拿大”为话题,介绍了加拿大的地理,自然,民族,语言,国旗及其多元化城市温哥华等情况,有助于培养学生跨文化交际意识,进一步拓宽视野,为终身学习奠定良好基础。
通过本模块的学习,要求学生最终能用所学过的词句,写一封电子邮件,介绍自己所在城市,国家的情况,并把它发给加拿大的一所学校,巩固所学知识和技能。
1.1INTRODUCTION通过三个问题和一副地图及对加拿大的基本知识的判断,唤起学生进一步了解加拿大的欲望。
1.2READINGANDVOCABULARY
(1)是一篇说明文,由两部分组成,主要介绍了加拿大的多元化城市温哥华及生活在该城市的华人的情况。
活动1通过三个问题,进行Pre-reading热身活动。
Post-reading部分设计了6个活动;2和4是课文内容细节判断;3是两人组活动,就篇章内容提出五个理解问题;5和6是词汇题,旨在培养学生用英语解释生词的能力;7是开放性练习,鼓励学生用所学语言介绍自己所在城市面貌,或以游客身份对你心仪的城市的基本情况进行初步了解,激发学生对旅游的兴趣。
1.3LANGUAGE
(1)复习代词one,介词for,副词still的多种用法,并运用到对话中。
1.4LISTENINGANDVOCABULARY是个听力活动,重在帮助学生了解和掌握与加拿大自然,地名来源有关的词汇,同时培养学生听力理解能力。

(2)复习情态动词could,作为动词与介词的like,名词place的用法,

(2)通过阅读,使学生了解由一位加拿大人所写的世界畅销小说,学会分析人物的外表与性格。
1提供了两个问题,旨在培养学生预测问题的能力;2篇章细节判断;3通过回答问题,培养学生想象力和创造力;4要求学生运用所学词汇对女主人公Ann提出问题。
1.7PRESENTATIONSKILLS由4部分组成。
1要求两人一组,对一些看法进行讨论并各抒己见;2所提供的信息为学生就加拿大猎海豹一事进行赞成与反对的辩论提供了更多的论据;3分组练习表达意见的句子;掌握讨论,辩论技巧,培养学生的口头表达能力和思辨能力。
1.8READINGPRACTICE阅读材料是关于加拿大文学的一篇说明文。
1和2要求学生两人一组讨论短文的主题思想;3根据课文内容进行细节判断;4是词汇题,再次培养学生用英语解释生词和短语的能力;5挑出正确描述五位名作家的句子;6两道开放性问题,培养学生理解文章的拓展意思和延伸的含义。
1.9CULTURALCORNER是一篇加拿大名字由来的说明文。
阅读后要求学生回答两个问题。
学生在理解模块材料基础上,从面积,人口,语言,民族,重要城市等方面探索一条让外国了解中国的途径,有利于学生的探究学习。
1.10TASK1和3鼓励学生上网搜索自己希望了解的加拿大的一个城、镇,让学生在动手动脑活动中,运用所学语言,发展和创造语言;2在阅读的基础上写一个介绍自己的学校和地区的电子邮件,不仅促进学生了解自己的祖国和生活地区,而且有利于提高学生的语言概括能力和写作能力;4发出电子邮件,提高学生利用科技产物进行国际间文化交流。
2.教材重组
2.1从话题内容上分析,将INTRODUCTION和LISTENINGANDVOCABULARY和WORKBOOK中的LISTENING整合成一节“听说课”,让学生了解加拿大的风土人情,丰富学生的文化内涵。
2.2将PRESENTATIONSKILLS部分设计成一节“口语课”。
