Manypeoplebelievethatchoosingajobandchoosingacareerarethesame;howeverthey’redifferent.Eachjobisatooltoprovideincometoreachfinancialgoals.Ontheotherhand,acareerisavocationinwhichtalentsandskillsareexpressedthroughoutalifetime.
Havingajobrarelyinvolvesanyplanning.Butacareeralwaysrequirescarefulcareerplanningandpreparation.Ajobbecomeslesssatisfyingovertimeespeciallyifyourtruegiftsandabilitiesarenotutilized.Acareerallowsyoutocultivateandfocusyourpassionandinterests.
BornonMarch3,1847,inEdinburgh,Scotland,AlexanderGrahamBellwasthesonandgrandsonofauthoritiesinelocutionandthecorrectionofspeech.Educatedtopursueacareerinthesamespecialty,hisknowledgeofthenatureofsoundledhimnotonlytoteachthedeaf,butalsotoinventthetelephone.In1876,attheageof29,AlexanderGrahamBellinventedthetelephone.Bellmighteasilyhavebeencontentwiththesuccessofhisinvention.Hismanylaboratorynotebooksdemonstrate,however,thathewasdrivenbyagenuineandrareintellectualcuriositythatkepthimregularlysearching,striving,andwantingalwaystolearnandtocreate.
