Alltheseproblemsneedtobesolved.Facingthechancesandchallengesofferedbyglobalization,especiallyunderthecomputernetworkandmultimediaenvironment,wehavetothinkaboutsuchaquestion,thatis,howtochangethetraditionalteacher-orientedteachingandlearningrulesintoinnovativeones.Asanewapproach,Task-basedApproach(TBA)hasbecomemoreandmoreprevalentintheEnglishteachingmethod.Itmakesthestudents-focusedcoreoftheapproach.Intheprocessoffinishingtasks,theinteractionbetweenteachersandstudentswillhelpthestudentsacquirelanguagenaturallyandcultivatetheircommunicativecompetenceinsteadofleadingtotheemotionof“negativelearning”.What’smore,theadvantageofthemodernteachingfacility—Internet-assistedmultimediacanbeshowninassistingtheEnglishlearningwhichishelpfultoprovideaplentyofinformationinlimitedtimeandtocreateavividsceneforlearning.

随着新时期全球化所带来的机遇,特别是在计算机网络多媒体环境背景下,我们需去思考这样一个问题,那就是,如何通过改革改变过去的以教师为中心的教学和学习模式。
作为一种新理论,任务教学法已经在外语教学研究中产生了重大影响。
其核心是以学习者为中心,通过师生共同完成语言教学任务,使学生不但能避免消极学习,并且能自然习得语言,提高其语言使用能力。
网络多媒体在任务教学法中体现出其应用优势。
它使学生在有限的时间内得到大量的信息成为可能,并且能帮助老师形成一定教学氛围。

WithChinaenteringintotheWTO,thereisanincreasingneedforalargenumberofprofessionalsandhighlyqualifiedpersonsfromdifferentfieldswhohavecapabilityofcommunicatingwithforeignersdirectly.Asfortheteachingaspect,whatwehavetodoistryourbesttocultivatestudents’communicativecompetenceefficientlyandquickly.However,thefactisthatmostofthecollegestudentscangetmuchhighscoresbutpoororalEnglishandlowconfidence.Therefore,developinglearners’comprehensivecompetence,suchaslanguagecompetence,criticalinquiry,analysis,collaborativeandautonomouslearningabilitieshasbeentreatedastheultimategoalofEnglisheducationbymanyeducators.Therefore,theinnovativeapproach,Task-basedApproachhasbecomemoreandmoreprevalentamongtheEnglishteachingmethods.However,therearestillmanyproblems,forexample,teacherscannotprovideenoughauthenticmaterialsin45minutesandstudentscannotgetteacher’shelppromptlywhentheclassistoolarge.Hence,weneedtosolvetheproblemsinotherways,e.g.theInternet-assistedmultimediateachingwhichisamarvelouswaytominimizeordealwiththeproblemsmentionedabove.Inmoderntimestheuseofcomputertechnologyhasattractedtheattentionoftheteachingcommunity.WiththeemergenceoftheInternet,thegrowthofinterestsintechnologyisaroused.ItisbeyonddoubtthattheInternetandcomputerscanaddenormouspotentialtolanguageteachingandlearning,providedthatteachersandlearnersknowhowtomakethemostofthetechnology.Thisthesisconsistsof5chapters.Inthe1sttwochapters,thereareanintroductionandaliteraturereviewcoveringtherelatedstudiesinthepresentresearch.Inthe3rdChapter,itwillstatethenecessityandfeasibilityoftheapplicationofTask-basedApproachinCET(CollegeEnglishTeaching).Theninthe4thchapter,itwillshowwhytoapplyTask-basedApproachunderInternet-assistedmultimediaandhowtocombinethemtogetherappropriately.FinallyitrevealssomelimitationsforeffectiveapplicationofTask-basedApproachunderInternet-assistedmultimedia.

Task-basedApproachhasslowlyemergedsincethe1983stochallengethetraditionalitemizedform-basedmethodology.ItisregardedasoneparticulardevelopmentwithintheboarderCommunicativeApproach.OriginallydevelopedbyN.Prabhuin1987,Task-basedApproachtakespsychologicaltheoryasitstheoreticalbasis.Psychologicaltheoryincludescognitivetheoryandsocial-interactivetheory.Cognitivetheorybelievesthatlanguagelearningisaprocessinwhichpeoplecanreceiveinformation,processinformationandthenputtheinformationintopractice.Informationprocessingisakeytolanguagelearning,whichinvolvesinput,attention,workmemoryandoutput(Skehan,1998).Taskispartofinputandthecarrierofthetargetlanguage.Socialinteractivetheoryinsiststhatthebestwaytolearnlanguageisthroughinteraction.Intask-basedlearning,thetasksarecentraltothelearningactivity.StudentsperformtasksinEnglish,whichinvolvesexperience,practice,anticipation,communicationandcooperation,thustodeveloptheircomprehensiveabilityoflanguageuseinthecourseofEnglishteaching.Inanotherword,alllanguageitemsarepresentedtothestudentsintheformofactivities.Studentslearnlanguagebypracticingthem,sotheycanunderstandandputthemintoactualuse.Inthe1990s,Task-basedApproachgotitsstrongtheoreticalbackground.AlthoughlaterdifferentTask-basedApproachesexist,oneunderlyingprincipleholdingforalltheapproachesistoplacetheemphasisfirmlyontasksoractivitiesthatlearnersdoinclass.Inrecentyears,Task-basedApproachhasdrawnpublicattentioninChina.Thestudyoftheapproachwentthroughthreestages:
theintroductionofTask-basedApproach,thelocalizationofTask-basedApproach,thepracticeofTask-basedApproach.ManyimportantmonographsareproducedjustlikeTask-basedLanguageTeachingbyProfessorChenin2004;Task-basedLanguageTeachingbyProfessorLuoin2011.NewcoursebooksforMiddleSchools,publishedbyPeople’sEducationalPress,havealsoadoptedsuchkindofapproach.Thisimportantlanguage-teachingmodeisworthgreatattentionanddiscussion.
Computer-assistedEnglishLanguageTeachingandLearning(CALL)hasbeenabuzz-wordinlanguageeducationforthepastfewdecades.Now,ithasmatureguidancetheoriesdevelopedbybothforeignanddomesticscholars.Thepresentresearch,whichismainlydescriptiveinnature,isintendedtoobservehowlearnershavebeeninfluencedbyCALLinthelightofmotivation,learnerautonomy,learningstrategiesandcooperativeandinteractivelearning.AccordingtoWarschauerandHealey,thedevelopmentoftheCALLwentthroughthreeperiods:
behavioristCALL,communicativeCALLandintegrativeCALL.Eachperiodcorrespondedtoacertainpedagogicaltheory.TheparticipationoftheInternetinmodernforeignlanguageteachinghasbroughtgreatchallengestoteachingconcepts,teachingmodels,teachingmethods,teachingmeans,andtoastillwiderrangeoflanguagelearningandteachingmaterials.Itsgreatinfluenceandchallengeshouldbereallyrealizedandmet.TheInternetisadecentralizednetworkofcomputernetworkswhichconnectsthousandsofcomputerusersinmanycountries.Eachnetworklinkscomputersjustlikehighwaysconnectingcities,tofacilitatetheexchangeofideas.TheInternetbeganabout20yearsagoasanexperimentbytheDefenseDepartmentofUSA.ItisnowconsideredasasophisticatedInformationSuperHighway.
