Itiswithineasyreachofthecity.
介词是虚词,不能单独作句子成分,介词和它后面的宾语构成介词短语。
介词短语可以在句子中作多种成分,可以表时间、地点、方位、方向等。
一、表示时间的介词
1.表示时间的介词用in,on和at
(1)表示某个世纪、年、月、季节、早上、下午、晚上用in。
例如:
in2017,inMarch,inspring
inthe
(2)表具体的某一天或某天的特定一段时间用on。
例如:
onthe8thofMarch2017,ontheafternoonof20thofMay
(3)在午间、夜间或在开头、结尾用at。
例如:
atnoon/night,atthebeginning/end
2.表示时间之前用before,之后用after或in。
例如:
We'llhavetofinishtheworkbeforerainseason.
雨季到来之前,我们得干完这些活。
(1)表示“在某段时间之后”,介词in短语常与将来时连用。
Pleasewaithere.I'llcomebackinafewminutes.
请在这儿等一下。
我几分钟后就回来。
(2)after与表示“某段时间”的词语连用时,句子谓语动词常用过去时。
after与表示“某一特定时间”的词语连用时,句子谓语动词也可用于将来时。
例如:
Hecamebackfromabroadaftertwoyears.
两年后他从国外回来了。
We'llcomebackafterfiveo'clock.
我们将在五点以后回来。
3.表延续的一段时间用for和since
for后只接表示一段时间的词语,而since只接表示特定时间点的词语。
例如:
Ihavebeenherefortwohours.
我来这儿两小时了。
(twohours一段时间)
Ihaven'tseenAnnforsolongthatI'veforgottenwhatshelookslike.
我很久没见Ann了以至于都忘记她长得什么样了。
Ihaveworkedheresince1996.
自1996年以来,我一直在这儿工作。
(1996年,特定时间点)
4.by,during,till,until表时间
(1)by表示时间点,表示“不迟于,到……时候为止”。
Yoursonwillbeallrightbysuppertime.
到晚饭时你儿子就会好了。
(2)during可以表示一段持续的时间,也可以表示这段持续时间中的某一点或一刻,视具体情况而定。
Hecalledonmeduringmyabsence.
他来看我时我不在。
(3)till与until也可以表示一段时间。
一般来说,till在肯定句中与延续性动词连用,until则常用在否定句中,与瞬间动词连用。
HehadstayedinShanghaitilllastweek.
他在上海一直呆到上星期。
Don'tgoawayuntilIcomeback.
我回来你才能离开。
注意:
表示时间的介词的区别
1.at,in和on
at表示片刻的时间,at8o'clock,atNewYear等。
in表示一段时间,inthemorning,inthefuture等。
on总是跟日子有关,onMonday,onChristmasmorning等。
2.since和from
since表示从过去到现在的一段时间的过程,常与现在完成时连用。
from表示从时间的某一点开始,不涉及与现在的关系,一般多与现在时、过去时、将来时连用。
Wehavenotseeneachothersince2005.
自从2005年以来我们彼此未见面。
Ihopetodomorningexercisefromtoday.
我希望从今天开始晨练。
二、表示地点的介词
1.at和in
at用于表示比较狭小的地点,不强调空间范围;in用于表示比较宽敞的地点,强调空间和地域。
I'llwaitforyouatXisiNo.22BusStoptomorrow.
我明天在西四的22路公共汽车站等你。
Wearetoassembleattheschoolgatetomorrowmorning.我们明天早晨在学校大门口集合。
WereyouborninShanghai?
你是在上海出生的吗?
Theyareallinthedininghall.
他们都在餐厅。
2.in和to
in表示在某一区域以内;to表示在某一区域以外,相对于某一事物的位置。
ShanghailiesintheeastofChina.
上海坐落在中国的东边。
MyhouseisinthenorthoftheBeijingcity.
我家在北京城的北面。
JapanliestotheeastofChina.
日本位于中国的东边。
3.on,above,over和below,under
(1)on可以指“在……的上面”(有接触面),也可以指“在靠近……的地方”。
Therearemanypicturesonthewall.
墙上有许多画。
Myseatisontheleftofmymother.
我的座位在妈妈的左边。
(2)above表示“在……上方”,但不一定是正上方。
Sheisnowlivinginaflatabovethepostoffice.
她现在住在邮局上面的一套公寓里。
TheplanewasflyingaboveHimalayas.
飞机那时正飞越喜马拉雅山。
(3)over表示“在……的正上方”,即垂直的上方。
Acrowjustflewoverhishouse.
一只乌鸦刚好从他家房上飞过。
Theboysjumpedoverastreamoneafteranother.
男孩儿们一个接一个地从小溪上方一跃而过。
(4)below表示“在……的下方”,但不一定是正下方,是above的反义词。
Belowthewindowsofherflatisafreemarket.
在她公寓的窗户下面是一个自由市场。
(5)under表示“在……的正下方”,即垂直的下方,反义词是over。
Underthechairthereisacatsleeping.
椅子下面有一只猫在睡觉。
4.inthefrontof和infrontof
inthefrontof与infrontof具有不同的含义。
前者表示在某一范围之内的前部,后者表示某一范围之外的前面。
Theteacherisstandinginthefrontoftheclassroom.
老师正站在教室的前面。
(在教室之内)
Thereisatreeinfrontoftheclassroom.
教室的前面有一棵树。
(在教室之外)
5.除了上述介词外,表示地点的介词还有:
表示“在……旁边”的at,by,beside,nextto,near;表示“在……之间”的between和among;表示“在……四周”的around等。
三、表示动作的介词
1.into和outof
into表示“进入”,用于表示有特定终点的运动方向,经常与come,go,run,rush等连用。
outof表示“从……里出来”,与into一样,也表示有一定的运动方向。
Thechildranintohismother'sarms.
那孩子跑入他母亲的怀抱。
Hetookthecardoutofhispocketandshowedittotheguard.
他把证件从口袋里拿出来,并给警卫出示了一下。
2.to,for和from
to表示“到……(某地或方向)”;for表示“向……”,用于表示目的地;from表示“从……来”。
Cometomyhouse,Susan.
苏姗,到我家来一趟。
She'llleaveforEnglandnextMonday.
下周一她将动身去英国。
WecomefromChina.
我们来自中国。
3.along,across和through
along表示“顺着,沿着”;across表示“横过,横跨”;through表示“通过,贯穿”。
Hewalkedalongthestreettotherailwaystation.
他沿着那条街向火车站走去。
Hesawmeandcametomeacrosstheroad.
他看见了我,便穿过马路向我走来。
Hersonwastoofattogothroughthedoor.
她儿子太胖了,过不去这个门。
注意:
下列介词的区别
(1)表示“穿过……”的through和across
through表示从内部通过,与in有关;across则表示从一端至另一端从表面上通过,与on有关。
Waterflowsthroughthepipe.
水从水管里流出。
Thelakewasfrozen,sowewalkedacrosstheice.
湖水结冰了,所以我们从冰上走了过去。
(2)into和in
①into表示动向,不表示目的地或位置;in通常表示位置。
Wewalkedintothepark.
我们走进公园。
Wewalkedinthepark.
我们在公园里走着。
②in和drop,fall,put,throw,break等终止性动词连用时,也可以表示动向。
Ihaveputthecoinin(into)mypocket.
我把硬币放进口袋里。

用来说明句子中某一名词、词组或代词(有时也可说明整个句子中的一部分)而起定语作用的句子叫做定语从句。
被修饰的名词、词组或代词叫做先行词。
定语从句通常出现在先行词之后,由关系词(关系代词或关系副词)引出。
关系词通常有下列三个作用:
(1)引导定语从句;
(2)代替先行词;(3)在定语从句中担当一个成分。
Themanwhoisshakinghandswithmyfatherisapoliceman.
与我父亲握手的那个人是一名警察。
该句中,whoisshakinghandswithmyfather是定语从句,修饰先行词theman,who是引导定语从句的关系词,代替先行词theman,在定语从句中作主语。
一、关系代词引导的定语从句
关系代词是用来指代先行词是人或物的词,关系代词有that,which,who,whom,whose等。
1.that既可指人又可指物,在句中可作主语或宾语,作宾语时可省略。
Thenoodles(that)Icookedweredelicious.(作宾语)
我煮的面条很好吃。
Thegirl(that)wesawyesterdaywasJim'ssister.(作宾语)
昨天我们见到的女孩是吉姆的姐姐。
Thewomanthatspoketomeintheshopismyaunt.(作主语)
在商店里和我说话的那个妇女是我的姨妈。
2.which仅指物,在定语从句中作主语或宾语,作宾语时可以省略。
Chinaisacountrywhichhasalonghistory.(作主语)
