6.14Powertransmission
6.14.2Couplings
Addtothisclause:
TheuseoftorsionallysoftcouplingsrequireapprovalbythePrincipal.TheresultsofthetorsionalanalysisfromClause5.7ofISO13631(asamendedherein)shallbeconsideredinselectingthecoupling
6.14.3V-beltdrives
Replacethisclausewith:
Beltdrivesshallnotbeusedfordrivingcompressors.Beltdrivesarepermittedfordrivingair-cooledheatexchangersviathestubshaftsofgasenginedrivers.RefertoClause9.4.1ofISO
13631(asamendedherein).
6.14.5Guards
Replacethisclausewith:
GuardsshallcomplywithAS4024-seriesorISO14120.Openingsshallbeprovidedinflywheelguardsforbarring-overthemachineandprovidingaccesstoindicatortimingmarks,wheelcentre(ifavailable)andanyotherpartswhichmayrequireattention.
Guardsshallbeeasilyremovable,corrosionresistantandsufficientlyrigidtowithstanddeflectionandpreventrubbingasaresultofbodycontact.Thisalsoappliestoauxiliarycouplingguards.Guardsoverbeltdrivesshallbecorrosion-resistantandproperlyventilatedtopreventexcessiveheatbuild-up.
Thedesignoftheprotectiveguardshallpermitadequateaccessformanualbarringofthecompressor.
Guardsshallbemadeofoneofthefollowingspark-resistingmaterials:
•commerciallypurealuminium;
•aluminiumalloyswithamaximumcontentof2%magnesiumand0.2%copper;
•copperorcopperbasedalloys(e.g.,brass,bronze).Addnewclause:
6.14.6BarringDevice
Barringdevicesshallbedesignedsothatitisnotpossibletostartthecompressorwiththebarringdeviceengaged.
Manualbarringmaybeachievedbyturningtheflywheel,providedthatthearrangementissuchthatthebarringtoolcannotberetained.
Thebarringdeviceshallbedesignedsothatgasforcesactingonthepistonscannotcausethecompressoreithertoaccelerateortorotateinthereversedirection.
ThecrankshaftbarringdeviceshallbetheManufacturer’sstandard.Whereapneumaticdeviceisoffered,itispreferredthatthebarringdeviceisawormgear,self-locking,reversibleturningmechanismandispneumaticpoweredwith4-wayvalve.
NOTE:
Pneumaticdevicesshallincorporateappropriatesafetyswitchesforinterlockingwiththemaindriver.Thepneumaticmotorshallbeequippedwithanairsupplyinletfilter/oilerand4-waycontrolvalveforoperationinforwardorreverse.Thepneumaticmotorshallbesizedsothatitcaneasilyovercometheinertiaofthecompressortrainfromcompletestandstill.
7.Capacitycontrol
7.1General
Replacethefirsttwosentencesofthisclausewith:
Thecompressorcapacityshallbecontrollablefrom0-100%ofrequiredcapacityusingdriverspeedastheprimarymeansofcontrol,withtherecyclesystemasasecondarymeansofcontrol.
Compressorsshallbefurnishedwithmanuallyvariablevolumeclearancepocketsonallcylinders.Wherenecessary,automaticunloadingvalves(plug-typesuctionvalveunloaders)shallbeprovidedforstartupandturndownpurposes.
Suctionpressureanddischargepressurecontrolmodes,includinganypressureandtemperatureoverrides,shallbemutuallyagreedbetweentheSupplierandthePrincipal.
7.4.2Clearancepockets
Addtothisclause:
Variablevolumeclearancepocketsshallbeprovidedwithpackingventsconnectedtothedistancepieceventheader.
7.5Bypasssystems
7.5.3Capacitycontrolbypass
Addtothisclause:
Acoldgas,automaticcapacitycontrolbypassshallbeincludedoneachpackage,capableoffullflowofthecompressoratmaximumsuctionpressureconditionsduringstart-up,shutdownandnormaloperation.Amanualbypassaroundtheautomaticcontrolvalveshallalsobeprovided.
7.6Valveremovalorunloading
7.6.1Valveremoval
Replacethisclausewith:
Removalofallthesuctionvalvesfromthehead-endsideofadouble-actingcompressorcylindershallbepermittedtocompletelyunloadthatendofthecylinder.Dischargevalvesshallnotberemovedateitherend.Suctionvalvesshallnotberemovedfromthecrank-endsideunlessapprovedbythePrincipal.
8.Primemovers
8.2Spark-ignitedgasengines
8.2.1Engineratedpower
Replacethisclausewith:
Internalcombustionspark-ignitedenginedrivers("gasengines")shallbetheManufacturersstandardcomplyingwiththisSpecification.Leanburn,lowemissionsgasenginesarerequiredfor
allPackages.
Themaximumavailablesiteratedpoweroftheengineshallbecalculatedusingthedesignmaximuminletairtemperature,inletairpressure(accountingforsiteelevationandexpectedlossesthroughtheinletairsystem),exhaustgaspressure(accountingforexpectedlossesthroughtheexhaustgassystem),inletairhumidityandworst-casefuelcomposition.
Themaximumavailablesiteratedpowershallconsiderallengine-drivenaccessoriesandauxiliariesplustransmissionlosses.
Theenginesizingshallconsidertheadditionalpowerconsumptionoftheshaftdrivenair-cooledheatexchangerinthewinter,consideringthechangeintheairdensityandtheeffectofanycapacitycontrolarrangement.
ThemaximumavailablesiteratedpowershallaccountforAriel’stypicaltoleranceonpowerconsumptionof6%forlowsuctionpressureapplications(assumingthatthecompressorManufacturerortheSupplierhasnotalreadyincreasedthenormalcapacitypriortosizingthecompressor).
TheSuppliershallinformthePrincipalofanyconditionswhichcannotbemetduetolowengineload/speedorhighengineload/speed.
TheSuppliershallinformthePrincipalofMethaneNumberlimitationsfortheselectedgasengine,alongwithitscalculationsoftheMethaneNumberforthespecifiedfuelgascomposition(s).
8.2.2OperatingSpeed
Addtothisclause:
TheenginespeedshallbegovernedinaccordancewithISO3046-4.TheSuppliershalladvisethepowervariationbandasdefinedinClause5.4.3ofISO3046-4.Themaximumdownwardspeedrangeofthedrivewillbedependentonthematchofenginetorqueatreducedspeedtothetorquerequiredbythedrivenmachineatthesamespeed.Theminimumspeedshallbedeterminedbyaminimumof10%marginbetweentheenginetorqueandthedrivenmachinetorqueundertheprocessconditionswhenthedrivenmachineisrunningatthereducedspeed.
NOTE:
Reciprocatingcompressorsimposeasevererestraintonenginespeedreductionsincetheirmeantorqueisvirtuallyindependentofspeed.
8.2.3Startingsystems
Addtothisclause:
Apneumaticstartersystemsuitableforusewithnaturalgasshallbeprovided.Thestartersystemshallbecompletewithrestrictionorificeorother“soft-start”devicedownstreamofthepressurecontroldevicetoincreasestartermotorreliabilityandlongevity,andanexhaustsilencer(s)thatalsoaccommodatesexhaustflowsfromanyothernaturalgasdrivenPackageauxiliaries.Theexhaustgasshallbeventedtoatmosphereabovethecompressorbuildingroofline.RefertoamendmentstoClause8.2.10ofISO13631,below,foradditionalcommentsonpneumaticstartingsystemsutilisingprocessgas.
WithinthecontextofthisSpecification,astartisdefinedasaminimumofsevencompletecrankshaftrevolutionsattheenginefiringspeedafterthepurgingperiod.Eachstartattemptmustbedistinctandseparate.Iftheenginefailstostart,thestartingcontrolsystemshallabortthestartsequence.
Thefirststartattemptshallbedelayeduntilpre-lubricationhasbeencompleted.Shouldtheenginefailtostart,thecontrolsystemshallincludealock-outtimerthatreststheenginefortheManufacturer’srecommendeddurationbeforeanotherstartcanbeattempted.DependingontheengineManufacturer’srequirements,prelubricationmaynotberequiredforsubsequentstartattempts(ifnecessary).AftertheManufacturer’sspecifiednumberofstartattempts,theengineshallshutdown,lockoutandanalarmshallberaised.
8.2.4Airintakesystem
