CORPORATEMANAGEMENTPOLICYSTATEMENT1.0CORPORATEMANAGEMENTPOLICYSTATEMENT
Thepersonalsafetyandhealthofeachemployeeofourorganizationisofprimaryimportance.Webelievethatouremployeesareourmostimportantassetsandthattheirsafetyattheworksiteisourgreatestresponsibility.Thepreventionofoccupationallyinducedinjuriesandillnessesisofsuchconsequencethatitwillbegivenprecedenceoveroperatingproductivitywhenevernecessary.Managementwillprovideallmechanicalandphysicalfacilitiesrequiredforthepersonalsafetyandhealthofeachofitsemployees.
Tobesuccessful,suchaprogrammustembodytheproperattitudetowardinjuryandillnesspreventiononthepartofcorporatemanagement,supervisors,andemployees.Italsorequirescooperationinallsafetyandhealthmatters,notonlybetweencorporatemanagement,supervisorandemployees,butalsobetweeneachemployeeandtheirfellowworkers.
Ourconcernforsafetyandhealthofallhumanbeingsisdaily,evenhourly.Weexpecteverypersonwhoconductstheaffairsofourcompany,nomatterinwhatcapacitytheyfunction,toacceptthisconcernanditsresponsibility.Employeesareexpectedtousethesafetyequipmentprovided.Rulesofconductandrulesofsafetyandhealthmustbeobserved.Safetyequipmentcannotbeabusedordestroyed.
Cooperationbetweenouremployeesandmanagementintheobservanceofthispolicywillensuresafe-workingconditions,willhelpresultinaccident-freeperformanceandwillworktoourmutualadvantage.Itwillalsoassistinreducingworkers'compensationcosts(directcosts)andreducejobsitedowntime,materiallossandregulatoryagencyfines(indirectcosts).
Managementhastheauthoritytoprocurethenecessaryresourcestoexecutetheobjectivesofourcompany'ssafetyandhealthprogram.Wewillholdmanagers,supervisorsandemployeesaccountableformeetingtheirresponsibilitiessothatessentialtaskswillbeperformed.
1.1CORPORATEMANAGEMENTSAFETYRESPONSIBILITIES
1.Eliminatepotentialhazardsbyprovidingappropriatesafeguards,personalprotectiveequipmentandsafeworktasks.
2.Providenecessarypersonalprotectiveequipmentandenforceitsuseandcare.
3.Provideeffectivetraining,whichisrequiredbythe"standards",asaminimumfortheemployees.
4.BecomefamiliarandcomplywithapplicableOSHAstandards(29CFR1910,GeneralIndustry,and1926,Construction)andmakecopiesofmedicalrecordsaswellasallsafetyandhealthprogramsavailableforemployeestoreview.
5.Review,considerforapproval,andexecuteappropriateactiononsafetypoliciesdevelopedbysafetycommitteesorsafetydirector.
6.Ensureahighlevelofproductivityandsafetyperformanceandholdprojectmanagementstaffaccountable.
7.Assignanindividual(s)[competentperson]theauthorityfortheimplementationofthesafetyprogramateachworksite.
1.2SAFETYDIRECTORRESPONSIBILITIES
1.Monitorsupervisorymanagementandemployeeactivitytoensurethatthecorporateprogramsarecarriedoutinatimelymanner.
2.Shallcoordinatesafetyinformationbetweenprojects/shopstoassurethatallprojectswillbenefitfromeachother'sefforts.
3.Coordinateallsafetyactivitiesincludingjobsiteinspections,anddistributionofsafetymaterials.Performjobsiteinspectionsperiodicallyandfollowupcorrectiveactions.
4.MaintainallaccidentrecordsandcompleteallrequiredOSHAforms.
5.Analyzeaccidentrecordsandshowtrends.
6.Promotesafetyeducationonalllevels.
7.Periodicallyreviewsafetyrulesandstandardswithemployeestoconfirmthatthecompanyismeetingitsgoalsandobjectives.
8.Reviewwithsupervisorshowtohandleemergencyproceduresateachjobsitelocation.
9.Confirmthatallrequiredsignsareposted,andbulletinboardsaremaintainedinclearandlegiblecondition.
10.Confirmemployerisenforcingcompliancewithallapplicablefederal,state,andlocalregulations.
11.Providearegularreporttouppermanagementontheresultsofthesafetyprogram.
1.3SUPERINTENDENT/FOREMANRESPONSIBILITIES
1.Knowsafetyrulesandworkpracticesthatapplytotheworkyousupervise.Takeactiontoconfirmthatallemployeesinyourchargeunderstandthesafetyrulesthatapplytothem.Alwaystakeimmediateactiontocorrectsafetyruleviolations.Unsafeactsorprocedurescannotbetolerated.
2.Preventbadworkhabitsfromdeveloping.Youareresponsibletomakedailyobservationsofemployeestoensurethattheyperformtheirworksafely,andcontinuethisobservationregularlyoncesafeworkinghabitsareestablished.
3.Takeactiontocorrectorcontrolhazardousconditionswithinyourworkareas.Ifitisbeyondyourcontrol,removetheemployeeuntiltheconditionissafe.Eliminateunsafeconditionsandpreventanaccident.
4.Encourageworkerstoreportunsafeconditionsorprocedures.Listentoyourworkersanddon'ttaketheirsafetycomplaintslightly.Nojobshouldproceedwhenaquestionofsafetyremainsunanswered.Seekadvicefromyourprojectmanagerwhennecessary.
5.Setagoodexample.Demonstratesafetyinyourownworkhabitsandpersonalconduct.Alwayswearpersonalprotectiveequipmentinareaswherepersonalprotectiveequipmentisrequired.
6.Trainyouremployeesonthepropersafetyprocedurestofollow,includingtheuseofadditionalsafeguardssuchasmachineguardsandpersonalprotectiveequipment.
7.Investigateandanalyzeeveryaccident,howeverslight,thatoccurstoanyofyouremployees.Controlthecausesofminorincidentstohelpavoidfuturecripplingaccidents.
8.Completeandfileareportoneachandeveryincidentandaccidentthatoccursatyourjobsite.Ifyouhavequestionorrequirereportingforms,contactyourprojectmanager.
9.Conductweeklysafetytoolboxmeetings.
10.Makesafetysuggestions.
11.Serveonsafetycommittee,ifrequested.
12.Takeanactivepartandparticipateinsafetymeetings.
13.Non-complianceoftheserulesaswellasotherfederaland/orstatelawsorregulationsmaybelegalviolationssubjecttociviland/orcriminalpenalties.
1.4EMPLOYEERESPONSIBILITIES
1.Wheneveryouareinvolvedinanaccidentthatresultsinpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,nomatterhowslight,theaccidentmustbereportedtoyoursupervisororothermanagementpersonnelpriortotheendoftheworkshift.Getfirstaidpromptly.
2.Reportanyconditionorpracticeyouthinkmightcauseinjuryand/ordamagetoequipmentimmediatelytoyoursupervisor.
3.Donotoperateanyequipment,which,inyouropinion,isnotinasafecondition.Reportimmediatelytheconditionthatyoubelieveisunsafetoyourforeman.
4.Allprescribedsafetyequipmentandpersonalprotectiveequipmentmustbeusedwhenrequiredandmustbemaintainedingoodworkingcondition.Itisyourpersonalresponsibilitytousesuchequipment.Theuseofrequiredpersonalprotectiveequipmentisanon-negotiableitem.
5.Obeyallsafetyrules,governmentregulations,signs,markings,andinstructions.Beparticularlyfamiliarwiththerulesandregulationsthatapplydirectlytoyouintheareainwhichyouwork.Ifyoudon'tknow,asyourforeman.
6.Whenlifting,usetheapprovedliftingtechnique,i.e.bendyourknees,grasploadfirmly,keeploadclosetoyou,andthenraisetheloadkeepingyourbackasstraightaspossible.Alwaysgethelpwithheavyorawkwardloads.
7.Donotengageinhorseplay;avoiddistractingothers;becourteoustofellowworkers.
8.Alwaysusetherighttoolsandequipmentforthejob.Usethemsafelyandonlywhenauthorized.Ifyouarenotfamiliarwiththesafewaytouseaparticulartoolorpieceofequipment,askyoursupervisor.Whenusingyourowntoolsonthejobsite,makesureallguards,groundpins,etc.,areinplace.
