Thisexhibitionisaonce-in-a-lifetimeopportunitytoseearound100exceptionaldrawingscreatedusingtheexquisite(精致的)metalpointtechnique.Itfeaturesworksbysomeofthegreatestartistsworkingfromthelate14thcenturytothepresentincludingLeonardodaVinci.WorksdrawnfromtheBritishMuseum’ssupercollectionofmetalpointdrawingssitalongsidemajorloansfromEuropeanandAmericanmuseumsaswellasprivatecollections,includingAbustofawarriorinprofiletoleftbyLeonardodaVincifromtheRoyalCollection.
Metalpointisadrawingtechniquewheretheartistusesametalneedle,usuallymadeofsilver,onanabrasivepreparation(腐蚀性配制品)sothattracesofthemetalareleftonthesurface,resultinginavisibledrawing.Metalpointlinescannotbeeasilyerasedandtheartistneedstocarefullyplanthedesignorruntheriskofhavingtostartalloveragain.
