    2、15摘 要在经济全球化的背景下,越来越多的中国企业走出国门、开展国际合作,商务英语在经贸活动中的作用不容忽视。企业间流畅而有效的沟通能够更好地促进各方理解,为进一步的合作打下基石。其中,译前准备对口译的成功起着至关重要的作用,是影响口译质量的一个关键的因素。本课题提出以斯波伯(Sperber)和威尔逊(Wilson)的关联理论作为商务英语口译译前准备的理论基础,强调商务口译自身的特点,认为通过系统的译前准备可以更好地传达讲话者的意图并实现听话者的期望,从而实现成功的商务交际。文章结构如下:第一章是引言;第二章对商务口译、关联理论和口译译前准备做了文献综述;第三章详述了关联理论视角下商务英语口译

As a tool for promoting mutual understanding and communication between different business parties and developing international cooperation, interpreting for business English is gaining wider popularity. Preparations, an indispensable part in the practice of interpreting, will determine whether

    5、the interpreting practice is successful or not to a great extent.This thesis adopts Relevance Theory proposed by Sperber and Wilson as the theoretical basis of the interpretation of business English, which emphasizes business interpreting has its own characteristics, and pre-task preparations should

    6、 be done systematically to better convey speakers intention and realize the audiences expectation to achieve successful business communication.Chapter One is a brief introduction. Then literature review about business interpreting, Relevance Theory and preparations for interpreting has been done in

    7、Chapter Two, on the basis of which, the definition and categories of pre-task preparations for business interpreting from the perspective of Relevance Theory are discussed in details in Chapter Three. Chapter Four attempts to analyze the features of business English and criteria of interpretation fo

    13、gly significant during Chinas economic cooperation with foreign companies. Under such a circumstance, interpreters who have outstanding language skills and proficient interpretation skills are becoming the necessary power and key element for business communications. However, researches on business i

    14、nterpretations are performing slowly, and it puts a negative influence upon Chinas further development. Business interpretation is special and unique,but relevant specialized researches possess a frustrating amount.As we all know, Business interpreting is an essentially complex multi-task activity.

    15、Full preparation plays an important role in interpreters performance as it enables the interpreter to quickly find optimal relevance by accurate and immediate response to the receives information, so that interpreter could reproduce the utterance in target language catering for the hearers cultural

    16、and knowledge back ground by proper diction and information reorganization. Pre-task preparations mean a lot to interpreters, particularly interpreters in the business field which covers a wide range of knowledge. Preparations done by interpreters before various tasks are based more on their experie

    17、nces than scientific theoretical studies on pre-interpreting preparations. Theoretical preparations lead to steady interpreting performance which is an indicator of a skilled interpreter. The aim of this thesis is to study the importance of preparation for business interpreting in light of Relevance

    18、 Theory proposed by Sperber and Wilson. Relevance theory can exert influences on accuracy and production fluency in terms of proper speaking speed, few breakdowns and repairs in interpreting for business English with certain professional context and sensible ostensive-inferential communication.Chapt

    19、er 2 Literature Review2.1 Previous Studies on Business English InterpretingWhen it comes to business interpreting, it is hard to find any reference in China. The author only found six papers in Chinese on business translation, most of which are dealing with the characteristics of business text and t

    20、he status quo of lacking professional business translators or interpreters as a contrast to huge demand for talents in this field as business cooperation has been expanding quickly in China in recent years. No particular study on business interpreting has been found except for some textbooks like A

    21、New Business Interpreting Course (Zhao Junfeng, 2000), which is most about in-house interpreting. Therefore a lack of study on business interpreting is one problem facing the business parties who tried to reach their deals through the bridge of interpreting. The paper with the title of the Character

    22、istics and Status Quo of Business Translation (Wang Enmian, 2012) published on the authoritative journal Chinese Science & Technology Translators Journal revealed the two major characteristics of business translation or interpreting: one is that business covers a broad range of topics such as trade,

    23、 finance, business negotiation, insurance, accounting etc, thus requiring business translators or interpreters to have a great pool of business knowledge; the other is that business translation or interpreting attaches more importance to time limits due to the frequent and fast change in the busines

    24、s world. Some experienced interpreters told the author that business culture is another important element influencing the result of business interpreting. More studies need to be made on business interpreting to meet the increasing demand for quality business interpreting. 2.2 Previous Studies on Re

    25、levance Theory In recent years, relevance theory has attracted more and more attentions from interpreting researchers and practitioners. There are about 18 mater theses on application of relevance theory to interpretation coming out, including studies on the hearers interpretation of conversational

    26、implicature, short-term preparations for court interpreting of criminal cases and interpretation at press conference etc. These studies yielded many enlightening results. Although relevance theory proposed by Sperber and Wilson was primarily intended to account for translation, it can also be applie

    27、d to interpretation since interpretation itself is a basic form of translation. In recent years, several studies have been done on analysis of interpreting process from the perspective of relevance theory. Holding that relevance theory can bring a new perspective to interpretation research, some sch

    28、olars have committed to this area continuously. They pointed out that according to this theory, instead of just encoding-decoding process, interpretation can be regarded as ostensive-inferential communication which requires the interpreter to act as both information receiver and information transmit

    29、ter. In this process, the interpreter should choose the proper context and relate the speakers ostensive stimuli with his cognitive environments to infer the speakers intention, and then take into consideration the target audiences cognitive environment and introduce this intention effectively. Furt

    30、her studies of the application of relevance theory in interpretation focusing on cultural factors have yielded some fruits. Interpretation strategies of domestication and foreignization of ostension based on the principle of optimal relevance to help interpreters better grasp the nature of interpret

    31、ation and make the best choice of words. These researchers hold that the cultural differences between different nations may cause great misunderstandings and hinder language communication among people of different nations. When such cultural factors become the communication barrier between the origi

    32、nal speaker and the target audience, the interpreter as the bridge between two languages as well as two cultures should do his or her utmost to realize optimal relevance by achieving the largest contextual effects with the least processing effort as possible while at the same time paying attention to the changing context as well as identifying explicatures and implicatures so as to narrow the cultur
