As a result, the dino saurs and about half of the all species on the pla net, died out. Whe n the asteroid hit the earth, it started a cha in of eve nts. A ch
5、a in of eve nt is a series of eve nts lin ked together, like a cha in.These particular cha in of eve nts happe ned over a period of mon ths and years. When the asteroid hit the earth, it caused huge cloud of dust to enter the atmosphere. This cloud of dust blocked the sun and darke n the earth for a
6、 period of mon ths. Without eno ughsun light, pla nts and pla nt-eat ing an imals, quickly died. With the deaths of so many pla nts and ani mals, the food cha in collapsed . This led to the deaths of many more species.Mass ext in cti on eve nts had played importa nt part in the evoluti on of life. I
7、 n fact,some ext in cti on eve nts had helped to accelerate evoluti on. For example, some mammals lived to the age of dinosaurs, but they couldn t compete. When thedino saurs were removed, the mammals were able to compete more successfully. Once they could compete, mammal evolved to a higher state.
